If you are like most people you are becoming more aware of what driving automobiles are doing to our environment. Everyone nowadays is trying to do their part to drive more fuel efficient and use greener cars. If you are in the market to purchase a new car or truck you can use the suggestions below to help you to find ways to drive greener.

When choosing a green vehicle you might want to consider a hybrid because they are very fuel efficient and have reduced emissions. You should shop around because all hybrids are not created equal. Some are considered mild hybrids which are not quite as fuel efficient as a full hybrid.
The size of engine and type of transmission can make a big difference even within the same vehicle family. The weight also will make a difference on what type of fuel efficiency you might have. Options like four wheel drive and third row seats will add extra weight to a vehicle and also increase fuel consumption. If you really have no need for these types of options it is in your best interest to leave them off.
If you want to have a vehicle that reduces emissions while still getting good fuel economy you might want to look into a vehicle with a Multi Displacement System. These systems deactivate half of the engine’s cylinders under certain driving conditions.

If you want to find out exactly what a vehicle’s emission scores are, you can look at the EPA Green Vehicle Guide. The US government has broken down the tailpipe emissions of all cars that are sold in America and assigned them a rating. You can look up any vehicle and the list is searchable by state.

These are just a few things you can keep in mind when you are looking for a new car to purchase. If you shop around you will be able to find a car that is environmentally friendly and also fuel efficient.

Today fuel prices are rising and people are becoming more aware of the impact vehicles have on the environment. Consumers who are shopping for vehicles are making smarter choices and buying vehicles that are fuel efficient and have less of an impact on our ecosystem. Below are some of the things you can do to drive greener.

Tailpipe and CO2 emissions have played havoc on our environment. When you are considering buying a vehicle you should check the car’s air pollution scores. You can use the Internet and find the EPA’s air pollution scores for any vehicle. These list are searchable by state and vehicle model.

Today many of the automakers are using green materials in the interior of their vehicles. They are also using recycled components and making parts from plants. Some automakers are using leather like products and using environmentally certified fabrics.

You can use the Internet to find which vehicles have been given top awards for being green. Some people may be surprised that diesels have recently been beating out hybrids for green awards. There are a number of organizations that give green awards. You can check them out to see which vehicles are rated the highest as far as being green.

You can also compare the factories of the different automakers. Most of them have made huge strides in making their manufacturing facilities green. The Ford Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan has 10 acres of drought resistant plants helping to absorb the CO2 in the air. It also has a program that captures paint fumes and converts them to hydrogen to a power a fuel cell at the plant.

If everyone does their part and makes a conscious effort to drive green we can make a difference in the quality of air we breathe. By driving green you are also saving money on fuel.

If you are looking to find ways to drive greener then you have to consider several things. It depends on what you drive, how you maintain your vehicle and how you drive. Below are some tips that you can use to make greener choices when buying your next vehicle.

There are many engine and transmission choices that you can make to drive more green. You should try to go leaner on engine sizes and manual transmissions usually give you better gas mileage. Curb weight can also make a difference. Certain options such as third row seats and four wheel drive will add weight to the vehicle and cut down on your fuel efficiency.

Some automakers have designed systems that will deactivate half of the cylinders in your engine under certain driving conditions. This helps improve fuel economy and also lowers emissions. Chrysler has the Multi Displacement System and Honda offers a Variable Cylinder Management system that will make your driving greener.

If you buy a hybrid vehicle you can lower your fuel consumption and also reduce harmful emissions. Today there are many different vehicles to choose from and almost all of the major automakers have hybrid models. New technology has also made diesel fuel cars cleaner. They now have lower emissions and you will also get great fuel mileage.

One of the best ways to reduce your car’s environmental impact is to buy a small car. The subcompact cars on the market today have become surprisingly roomy and versatile. The automakers have made smaller cars more comfortable and have added many amenities to add to your driving experience.

By making smart choices and being more informed about green technology you can drive a vehicle that is fuel efficient and also better for the environment.

Until recently people were trading in there SUV’s for more fuel efficient compact vehicles. With the price of fuel rising dramatically many people were passing up SUV’s. Nowadays you can find a variety of fuel efficient and eco-friendly SUV’s and Crossovers. Below are a few of the most popular vehicles that give you the extra space and comfort of a SUV and the added benefit of being fuel efficient.

Ford Escape Hybrid- The Ford Escape Hybrid was one of the first mainstream hybrid SUV’s to be produced. It was first introduced in 2005 and offers the power of a V6 engine with the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder vehicle. It is the most fuel efficient SUV on the market today. Both power sources work together to provide maximum performance. It contains a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors. It has electronically controlled variable transmission (CVT). The Ford Escape gets close to 30mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Toyota Highlander Hybrid- The Toyota Highlander Hybrid was the first hybrid to offer all wheel drive and offers seating for seven. It was first introduced in 2006 and is an excellent midsize crossover vehicle. This vehicle has versatility, fuel economy and high levels of safety features. It gets about 27mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Jeep Compass- The Jeep Compass doesn’t look like other tough off road Jeep vehicles and has a car based design. It is a small SUV that is easy to drive and also fuel efficient. It has a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine and a five speed manual transmission. It gets around 23 mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway.

SUV’s have came a long way since their inception. They were once consider gas guzzlers and were not very ecofriendly. However, today you can have all of the comforts and extras that a SUV offers and still be driving a vehicle that is fuel efficient with lower CO2 emissions.
